    Birmingham floor sanding, done properly

Simply Floor Sanding is a family-run wood floor company based in Kingstanding, north Birmingham. We have been sanding, repairing and finishing floors for over 20 years, and between us the team brings more than 35 years of hands-on experience with every kind of wooden floor.

Most of our work is in homes: original pine floorboards in Victorian and Edwardian terraces, oak floors that have lost their shine, and parquet uncovered when an old carpet comes up. We also look after churches, schools, colleges, community centres and sports halls, so a large or awkward floor does not worry us.

    Why customers choose us

    • Virtually dust free. We use continuous belt sanders with dust extraction rather than old fashioned drum sanders, mask off the room and vacuum as we go.
    • Right into the corners. Edging sanders and hand tools mean the whole floor is sanded evenly, not just the middle of the room.
    • Hard wearing, low odour finishes. We use water based lacquers and oils that dry clear, do not yellow and are kinder to your home.
    • Honest, fixed quotes. We look at the floor, explain what it needs and give you a clear price with no obligation.

No job is too big or too small. Whether it is one bedroom or a school hall, you get the same care and the same attention to detail.

    What customers say

Trusted by homeowners and churches across Birmingham

    • Could not recommend these guys enough! They have done an amazing, beautiful job of our home. Absolutely professional, so friendly, and fantastic quality. They really know their stuff and went above and beyond to finish everything to such a high standard. True craftsmen.

    • An excellent job by Roy and Chris on our floors at St Anne's Church Hall in Moseley. They sanded and levelled the floor, repaired floorboards, fixed parquet blocks back down and finished it in lacquer. The difference is like night and day.

Father Mark SimonsSt Anne's Church Hall, Moseley

    • Our floors were in pretty bad shape after other trades had broken several boards. Roy and his son repaired, replaced and finished them and they all look great. Best of all, they took real care and did not leave a mess.

    Good to know

    Frequently asked questions

How long does floor sanding take?

A typical living room or bedroom is usually sanded and sealed in one to two days. Larger rooms, parquet with repairs or floors that need gap filling can take longer, and we will tell you how long to allow when we quote.

    How dusty is floor sanding?

Far less than most people expect. Our belt sanders have built in dust extraction, we screen off the room and we vacuum between each stage. Some fine dust is unavoidable, but you will not find your house covered in it.

When can we walk on the floor again?

You can usually walk on the floor carefully in socks a few hours after the final coat. We recommend waiting 24 hours before putting furniture back and avoiding heavy traffic while the finish cures.

    Do you cover my area?

We are based in Kingstanding, B44, and cover the whole of Birmingham plus Sutton Coldfield, Solihull, Walsall, West Bromwich, Dudley, Halesowen and the wider West Midlands.

Can every wooden floor be sanded?

Solid wood floors, floorboards and parquet can almost always be sanded, often several times over their life. Engineered boards can be sanded if the top layer of real wood is thick enough, which we check before quoting. Laminate cannot be sanded.
